Wieland is trained as a medical doctor and is a professor in radiology. For several years, he was the head of the oncologic imaging department at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich.
Next to his academic career, he is an enthusiast of entrepreneurship and founded two digital health companies: Smart Reporting, an digital health start-up based in Munich which revolutionizes medical documentation as well as Planerio, an AI-based automated scheduling and workforce management software for the healthcare sector.
He also is an active business angel in the digital health sector and a mentor of entrepreneurs in medicine.
