Jens Wiehler holds a PhD in Molecular Biology (protein engineering), with previous work in population genetics. He collected 17 years of experience in industrial business development and management in the fields bioinformatics and of genetic analytics, both in diverse markets. Finally, he founded and headed a Eurofins Group – internal startup for consumer genomics.

In 2018 he joined BioM to co-set-up and manage the P4 medicine flagship research project DigiMed Bayern, which aims to implement digitally driven medicine of the future in the exemplary field of atherosclerotic diseases. It is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Health and Care with a total of € 24,5 Mio and runtime of 2018 to 2024. Collaborational infrastructures for secondary use of health data, legislation and innovation are topics associated tightly with the project and with Jens’ work.
